Event Details

Join us for Cooks and Books, a free, in-person cooking demonstration and showcase of cookbooks at C3 (Corvallis Community Center, 2601 NW Tyler Ave). Learn how to prepare and sample a recipe demonstrated by a local chef as well as browse cookbooks related to the recipe and theme. This month’s theme is cooking with sunshine with Lorraine Anderson.

Cooking outdoors in the summer using only the energy of sunshine is fun, easy, and safe. It keeps your kitchen cool—and the fuel is free and zero-emission! Join Lorraine Anderson, author of Cooking with Sunshine and Slow Cook Solar, to learn how you can harness solar energy to cook root vegetables and grains that can provide the base for a variety of chilled soups and substantial salads. Lorraine will share her recipes for Adobo Potato Salad, Chilled Beet and Cucumber Soup, and Quinoa Tabouli.

This event series is co-sponsored by C3, Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, and Corvallis Sustainability Coalition.
