Why is Dr. Dara Shifrer, a sociologist and former middle school math teacher, so passionate about math anxiety? What does the research evidence-base say about math anxiety? What experiences have you had with math anxiety and how can we put a stop to it in school, at home, and in our broader culture?

This workshop is hosted by the K-8 Teachers of Math in Rural Oregon Collective (K8TMROC). K8TMROC shares strategies and resources for improving students’ math literacy by reducing their math anxiety and increasing their general well-being, especially for multilingual learners and students with disabilities. K8TMROC is also a social and emotional support for teachers across the state. K8TMROC is funded by the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon State University.
