A discussion of Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer, the 2024 Stone Award for Literary Achievement winner, facilitated by local author Karen Holmberg.

Join us for a discussion of bestselling, critically-acclaimed, author Robin Wall Kimmerer's first book, Gathering Moss: A Natural and Cultural History of Mosses. The discussion will be led by Karen Holmberg, local author of two books of poetry and a young adult novel (publishing April 23, 2024): Axis Mundi: Poems, The Perseids: Poems, and The Collagist.

Pick up a copy of the book to check out, while supplies last, from the 2nd floor reference desk of the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.

Robin Wall Kimmerer has been awarded the 2024 Stone Award for Literary Achievement by Oregon State University. The Stone Award recognizes major American authors with bodies of critically acclaimed work that influence multiple generations of writers, readers, and thinkers. Past recipients include writer and cartoonist Lynda Barry in 2021, novelist Colson Whitehead in 2019, and poet Rita Dove in 2016.

Kimmerer will visit Oregon State’s main campus this spring to meet with students and deliver a public reading. Her reading will take place at 7pm on Friday, May 17 at OSU’s new Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx): https://prax.oregonstate.edu/events/robin-wall-kimmerer
