Event Details

In this virtual workshop, youth in grades 4-12 will be inspired by the work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988). Basquiat is best known for his vibrant paintings that combine poetry, drawing, painting, and collage. His artwork tackles themes of social injustice, pop culture, identity, and anatomy and reads like an abstract glimpse into his intimate thoughts and ponderings. Students will be provided with art kits containing all materials they will need to complete the art project. Students will join an interactive virtual meeting with the instructor where they will learn about the artist, brainstorm personal identity symbols for use in their artwork and create a process focused multi-media art piece that amplifies their creative voice.

Update: this workshop is currently full.
