Disasters can strike anytime and affect anyone. While we cannot predict every emergency, we can take steps now to prevent disasters or reduce their impact. In this “Be Red Cross Ready” Preparedness Event, you will learn that single family home fires are the #1 disaster in the country. We will review the importance of installing smoke alarms, learning home fire safety tips, and having an evacuation plan. In regard to wildfires, you will learn what each evacuation level means and how to be notified in case of an emergency. Preparing for any type of disaster means having a communication plan, making a disaster kit with important items and documents, and planning for pets and household needs such as medications/health, dietary, and mobility needs. The first step to being prepared is making the first step; this program will teach you ways to get prepared today.
